Abell 33 is a planetary nebula that lies just behind the 7th magnitude star HD 83535. The star HD 83535 gives the nebula a "diamond ring" effect as seen in the photograph.

Created when an aging star blew off its outer layers, this beautiful blue bubble is unusually symmetric, appearing to be almost perfectly circular on the sky.
